NewsSpector trial: Day 44Transformers director Michael Bay today took the stand yesterday (August 6) at the Phil Spector murder trial in Los Angeles. Bay denied testimony from the defence that he did not recognise actress Lana Clarkson at a party right before her death, prompting her to burst into tears. Nightclub promoter "Punkin Pie" Laughlin previously told the court about the snub, fueling the impression that Clarkson was fragile and depressed before she died. However, Bay said he would have remembered seeing Clarkson so close to her death, saying it would have been a "huge event". "She was funny, she was saucy, she had no qualms coming right up to someone," Bay told the court. He said if he had ignored her she would have slapped him in the face. The director cast Clarkson in a Mercedes Benz commercial and knew her from many auditions and parties over the years. He also told the court she would send him presents at Christmas. He told the court "She was she was funny, she was vivacious. She was hard to miss." There was no sitting today as Spector had a doctor's appointment.
